The lay of the land
Where it all is
Most rainy-day stops cluster in and around Southport, a short hop over the bridge.
Oak Island is at lower-left; cross the bridge for Southport’s museums, breweries and the cinema. Shallotte (Planet Fun) is off to the west.
Good to know: many Southport museums and galleries close Sunday–Monday, and summer hours shift — call ahead the morning of for anything you’re driving across the bridge for, and book the spas a day or two out. Note: the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher is closed for a multi-year renovation, so it’s left off this list.
